LIVE ONE-ON-ONE TEXT SUPPORT FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION AND STUDENT WELLNESS
The Idaho Department of Education has partnered with SchoolPulse to enhance student success and bolster suicide prevention and student wellness services to all secondary school students. The service is being used in over 260 schools in Idaho and we are excited to provide this service to you and the students.
While the service is geared for the students, it is also being made available for the parents. Check out our resource page by visiting https://schoolpulse.org/schools/veracolearymiddleschoolid/, which includes all the content that is being provided. The service includes:
Two-way email, sent once a week. Email includes an activity that parents and students can participate in. The activity includes evidence-based skills that help students succeed academically and personally.
Largest library of age-appropriate content and activities. Designed to help students who are looking to excel academically, personally, and in their relationships. These resources also provide skills for students who may be struggling with anxiety, bullying, attendance, etc. There is even content for parents.
Live, anonymous, one-to-one text support. Provides students the ability to receive additional support during the evenings, weekends, summer, and during school breaks. This service has already helped students in Idaho who have experienced suicide ideation, self-harm, etc. (The SchoolPulse support team will not know the identity of your child.)

(The school email address is to verify that the your child is a student at the school.)

The Twin Falls Police Department has asked us to remind families that the streets surrounding O’Leary Middle School are designated school zones during posted times. This includes Eastland Drive between the posted school-zone signs, as well as Elizabeth Boulevard from Eastland Drive through and past the school.
Please slow down and pay close attention to the posted school-zone signs and speed limits when traveling through these areas. TFPD has informed us that officers will be enforcing the school-zone speed limit, and drivers who are speeding may be ticketed.
With students walking, biking, crossing streets, and arriving or leaving campus throughout the day, even a small reduction in speed can make an important difference in keeping everyone safe.

In the wake of the Canyon West shooting on August 1, the City of Twin Falls is leading a community-wide effort to facilitate recovery and support our town.
As part of this initiative, the city has created a survey to better understand which supports and resources are most needed. As a community partner, the Twin Falls School District is sharing this survey and encourages all of our staff and families to take a few moments to complete it.

School is officially out for the long weekend! Just a quick reminder that there will be no school on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.
We hope all of our students, staff, and families enjoy a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved three-day weekend. We can't wait to see everyone back in class refreshed and ready to learn on Tuesday, September 8!

Crisis counselors will be available again today, Monday, Aug. 3, for people who witnessed or were affected by Saturday’s shooting at the Twin Falls In-N-Out.
